The Softest Sweater I Own Monday, Oct 2 2006

Believe it or not, the softest sweater I own is not one of the designer cashmere sweaters I got on sale, but this $35 silk and cashmere sweater from La Redoute. Amazingly soft and silky, this sweater is super flattering – and more comfortable than a sweatshirt. Don’t let the price tag fool you – this is a high quality item.

Cheap, Chic, and Flattering Clothes Sunday, Sep 3 2006

My current obsession is the US online version of La Redoute, a discount French fasihon store. The clothes seem a lot more tailored and flattering than most American lower end stores. Nothing is over $40 dollars. I picked clothes that add some structure to your figure – especially if you have a defined waist of any size.

Classic Safari Jacket ($25)

I love belted jackets of any length or fabric. I have one like this, and it’s especially chic with dark denim.

Lace Trim V-Neck ($30)

This shirt has two classic curve enhancing elements – a deep v-neck and a cinched waist. The lace adds a nice touch, but it’s not over the top girly.

Beaded Wrapover Sweater ($30)

Another deep v top with an emphasis on the waist. This sweater is versitle enough to go with jeans or a skirt.

Long Sleeve Mohair Wrap Sweater ($25)

This sweater is feminine but the shape makes it more sexy than girlish. It would go well with a pencil or a-line skirt.

Wrap Poplin Shirt ($20)

I love career shirts, but they often aren’t fitted enough to my tastes. This wrap shirt looks great with dress pants, and has some shape to it.

Texture Mix Skirt ($20)

This skirt is short enough to show of your legs, but definitely not in trampy mini skirt territory. The pattern is interesting and elongating.
